The Amateur Gourmet's Guide To His Second Year In New York

Last year I made a list (which you can see by clicking here) of all the restaurants I visited in my first year as a New York resident. Well my second year here is more than over (the two year anniversary was in August) but I figure my loyal readers, and you know who you are (hi mom!), might enjoy a list--with links--of my 2nd year reviews. And so here's that list with a lazy star system where I give random star ratings to the ones I think deserve them. Enjoy!

I have to know - any plans to eat if One if by Land, Two if by Sea, whose tuna tartare and creme brulee my (now) 13 year old raves about over a year later?

It really freaks me out that you've already been in NYC over two years. You were still a law student here in the Atl when I started reading and it doesn't seem like so long ago... Best wishes on your new digs in Park Slope!

Perhaps you can award Le Cirque negative three stars (-***) for the crappy atmosphere mediocre food. You may start a trend.

If you get a chance to revisit Eleven Madison Park don't pass it up.
The new chef Daniel Humm is really making his mark on the city.

This isn't meant to be snarky, and I realize that many of these places aren't expensive at all, but how did you afford to eat at so many of the more glamorous places while you were still in grad school? Scary credit card debt? Or a really generous advance on your book?

Have you ever kept track of your receipts for a year from eating out? I started to once but it got too scary too fast....would be interesting though, especially considering the caliber of restaurants you patronize. Can't wait for the book!
